Bike for Life cycles 260,000 km against cancer

From 1 to 24 September, 3,086 employees cycled to work for Kom op tegen Kanker ('Stand up against cancer'). In this cycling for charity campaign, 33 employers sponsored their employees' home-to-work journeys. Bosch eBike Systems, as the main sponsor, gave the campaign a leg up.

Report problems on the road with the Fietsersbond app

The Fietsersbond, VRT and HYPE launched the Fietsersbond app on 19 October. Via the app, cyclists can keep each other informed about a problem on their bicycle route. The reports also reach the VRT (Flemish Radio & TV) traffic department. The latter evaluates them and includes them in the radio traffic bulletin.

Isabel cycled for charity

Isabel Debecker is one of 3.086 enthusiastic cyclists who participated in Bike for Life (1 - 24th September). The cycling for charity campaign motivated the shop manager to cycle more often. "I was happy to ride the extra mile for the good cause," she says.

Corona-virus didn't stop a massive peloton of 740 Bike to Work'ers in 194 teams from 53 companies to cycle 107.586,58 km to work during 3 weeks (2 till 19 June)! Together they saved 19 tons of CO². No less than 85 prizes were won.

Bike to Work showing an upward trend: figures for 2019

In 2019 all users of Bike to Work together registered 9,313,420 cycled kilometres on their bike calendar. This means a saving of 1,630 tonnes of CO2 in emissions. The number of cycled kilometres is well over 100,000 km higher than in 2018. Divided over the 49,000 accounts this means an average of 190 registered kilometres per user.
